Hi, Helge from Norway here, thank you for good entertainment in the foilpodspace. I enjoy a lot your slow understanding of life and foiling, but your latest cast where you are too cool to dress for winter I strongly recommend you to edit away the dangerous bullshit talk about using anything less than 6mm hooded, thick boots and mitts in winter. If most of your audience is like me 50+ sceptic with heaps of experience, it’s no problem, but some kid (god forbid) might think a 4mm suit is good enough. Please think through what you are preaching here. As a norwegian we learn to dress for the weather, wetsuits no different. Prepare for the worst, and live another day. Complaining about too hot is great. (Cooling down is very easy.) Hyperthermia is a the most serious threat at sea. Please push the narrative there’s no difference to the seasons if you dress accordingly. The mobility of modern neoprene is amazing, but like all things in life the dressed undressed sensation takes a little time to adjust to. The amount of misinformation about dressing for winter in the water is a huge safety concern. The «i did this!(because I do not know any better)» culture, is really dangerous. I have tried and tinkered with most available gear the last 40 Norwegian winters so this is not an academic approach. Dress for safety, enjoy all seasons, stop whining about the transition to safe levels of insulation that allow is to have fun.

My choice for absolute comfort this winter season is C-skin Wired+ 6mm, Ion Ballistic 6mm and a pair of Ion Arctic mitts. Always summer inside!

    Kind regards Helge Rotnes
