AWSI Predictions from the Wanglordz hot tub in Hood River

Spotify Apple Podcasts YouTube

What we talk about

  • Arriving in Hood River before AWSI 2026: no wind, cold weather, a few days of foiling and parawing, and a drive out to Three Mile Canyon
  • Local shuttle run spots have closed, which makes parawings a good fit for downwinding in the Columbia Gorge
  • Why the chats in the Hatch car park with designers from different brands matter as much as the show
  • First impressions of the Rift foil assist system: a top loading battery box built into the board, different battery sizes and quick swaps
  • What Rift could do to the foil assist market, including competing with FoilDrive, and board makers having to build around its box
  • Connection systems: Radix, Tuttle and adjustable Tuttle against tracks, and why an industry standard is still a way off
  • Hollow boards, titanium and composite fuselages, monoblock wings, and the new Ozone Afterburner, Naish Hatch V2 and Quest parawings
  • Predictions for the show: new foils from North, independent masts, more dogleg tapers, and jokes about AWSI award categories
