What we talk about
- Greg's recent parawing sessions, and why a 3m and a 4m still leave gaps in changeable wind, so a spread of sizes helps
- Parawings in strong wind and in very small sizes, including the Pocket Rocket and Frigate, with Hood River storm days as the backdrop
- Staying a small brand means Omen only makes gear Greg wants to ride, like the Emissary board built for parawing
- How Omen started with the Operator 850 and 1050 foils, then found its audience with the Flux board, selling mostly direct with Mackite in the US
- The Agent foil: one fuselage length with a tail matched to each front wing, and how shims tune pitch stability
- Learning parawing downwind: build skills on a wing first, practise a fast pack down, and the YouTube explainers Greg makes, like the mast shim video
- Omen's mast built with ICE, its stiffness balance, and base plate shimming versus a Tuttle box
About this episode
One of our most requested interviewee's for a while now, we finally managed to all organise a time to chat.
We don't see much/any Omen here in the UK but we're very much aware of it's presence - and Greg has cemented himself as one of those foil brands thats worth listening to. His Youtube presence has been solid since the beginning and even Liam and I have learnt a lot by listening to him explain the likes of mast shims in easy and precise language on the internet - well worth a watch if you haven't already.
Enjoy the chat - its a lengthy one, and Liam and Greg really dive into the tech!
We're still blaming a slow start to the year for our lack of episodes.... but I understand its now nigh on May!! You'll be happy to hear the suns out here in the UK, the winds been stonking and Liam and I have both had some awesome sessions - which means chatting about said sessions can only be a short time away.
