What we talk about

  • Edo on winning the M2O for a third time, the busy social media period afterwards, and the Kernow Foil Classic and San Tropez races
  • How the Hawaii race season fits together: Voyager Race and Paddle Imua as qualifiers, then Maui to Molokai, the new Kamalo run and the M2O over four days
  • Picking foil size: most riders end up under foiled in the glassy, light M2O, and experience helps
  • His preparation: three long crossings on consecutive days, mental focus, and staying relaxed until just before the start
  • Racing getting tighter, with Kane, Kai Lenny and Kai Thompson mentioned, and why not falling matters for the top places
  • Why he rode a production foil rather than the Slingshot prototype, what he learned trying other brands' foils, and what he wants from Slingshot's next foil
  • Trent's strong M2O, plus coaching on reading groundswell, flat water pop ups, peeling back off bumps and typical race foil sizes around 500
  • Downtime plans: Hood River with Slingshot, the Project Drag board and Glide 825, spearfishing, and escort boats in races

About this episode

A threepeat for Edo this year at the M20 and he had a clean sheet throughout the Hawaiian race season this year. He's cementing himself as a real life force to be reconed with in the foiling world - he just needs to get his visa sorted so he can show it on the world stage now!

We sit down and talk to the man himself to discuss what sounded like a savage race this year with conditions, as well as the ongoing interesting discussion about his gear, his sponsors and the foil choice he and fellow Slingshot team rider, Trent made going into this years season.

Safe to say we're also very interested to hear more from the F4 foils perspective....!
